Air conditioning

How much does air conditioning installation cost?

Single-room domestic installs start from £1,300. Multi-room and larger systems are priced after a survey, and you get a fixed written quote. See our prices page for details.

Is the survey free?

Yes. Surveys are free and there’s no obligation. You can choose a quick video call or an on-site visit.

Who carries out the installation?

Our own engineers survey, install and commission your system.

Does air conditioning heat as well as cool?

Yes. The systems we fit are heat pumps, so they can heat in winter as well as cool in summer.

Servicing

How much does a service cost?

A one-off service is £179 for one unit, £259 for two, £335 for three and £389 for four, including VAT.

What is the Comfort Club?

The Comfort Club is our planned servicing plan at £14.99 a month per unit. See the servicing page and Comfort Club terms for what’s included.

Heat pumps

Do you install air source heat pumps?

Yes, both air-to-air and air-to-water. On air-to-water systems our plumbing partner handles the water side and our engineers fit the heat pump.

Period homes

Can you fit air conditioning in a listed building?

Often, yes, with careful positioning of the outdoor unit and pipework. We’ll advise on whether listed building consent or planning permission is likely to be needed, but you or your agent make any application; we don’t submit them.

Commercial

Do you work on commercial premises and cold rooms?

Yes. We install and service air conditioning for offices, shops and hospitality, and we install cold rooms and commercial refrigeration.

How do I book?

What warranty do I get?

Every installation has our 12-month installation warranty, which covers our workmanship. You can also get up to 5 years’ manufacturer warranty on parts, provided the system has an annual service. The Comfort Club makes that easy.

How long does a service take?

A standard service visit takes around 1 to 1.5 hours.

Is the electrical connection included?

Yes. Our own team carries out the electrical connection in-house, and it’s included in the installation package.

How noisy is air conditioning indoors?

Modern wall-mounted units are very quiet. On their quietest setting, premium 2.5kW models such as the Mitsubishi Electric LN and Daikin Perfera are rated at around 19 dB(A) indoors, which is about as quiet as a whisper. Larger units and higher fan speeds are louder, so we’ll talk you through the right model for a bedroom or living space at the survey.

How long does installation take?

Most single-room home installs are completed in a day. Multi-room and commercial systems take longer, and we’ll give you a clear timeline with your quote.

Will it be messy?

We keep it tidy. Dust sheets go down, we drill a single neat core hole for the pipework, and we leave the room as we found it.

Do I need planning permission for home air conditioning?

Most standard home installations don’t need it, but listed buildings and homes in conservation areas often need consent for external units. We’ll advise at the survey on whether consent is likely to be needed. Applications are made by you or your agent, not by us.

What will it cost to run?

It depends on the size of the room, how well insulated it is, how often you use it and your electricity tariff, so we don’t quote generic running cost figures. Modern systems are inverter-driven heat pumps, which use electricity efficiently, and we’ll give you an honest view for your home at the survey.

Do I need to be home for the installation?

Yes, someone over 18 needs to be at the property at the start of the install so we can confirm unit positions, and at the end so we can show you how the system and app work.

Can I choose the colour of the indoor unit?

Often, yes. Some ranges come in several finishes, for example the Mitsubishi Electric LN is available in white, black and red. We’ll show you the options for your room at the survey.
